Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah's Ghanashyam Nayak aka Nattu Kaka has died after an arduous battle with cancer. The actor breathed his last this evening at a Mumbai hospital.

Ghanashyam Nayak, who has worked in about 350 serials and 200 Gujarati and Hindi films, was recently diagnosed with cancer. His son has confirmed that his father was undergoing chemotherapy sessions. In September last year, the veteran actor had developed a lump in his neck for which he later underwent a surgery. This year, in April, a few spots were discovered on his neck. Ghanashyam Nayak was, despite all this, unstoppable at the age of 77. He once told SpotboyE.com, "I am feeling well now. And have also started shooting for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. Tonight my episode will go on air which I shot for them last month in Daman. It was a one day shoot and it is a very special scene. Our producer Asit Modi had called me for it and I thoroughly enjoyed shooting it - as it was after four long months that I got to act. Everyone was so happy to see me back on the sets. They took extra care of me on the sets and I was overwhelmed with their gesture."

Ghanashyam Nayak was also famous for his role of Vithal Kaka in the 1999 film, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, starring Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
